That was awesome
That was awesome
.01 off the wr.....Wow... And he ran 7:53.64 and the wr is 7:53.63...Oh my gosh..
Damn must be hard being so close to a WR.
nothing sucks worse than just finishing 2nd!
what a run by all three of them. last lap was just brilliant stuff. koech deserves credit for pushing the pace for 1500m
so close indeed
The announcer was clueless to the amazing time going on in front of him. I wonder if Kipruto knew he was so close. Some people called this steeplechase a let down after Bolt in the 100. The doubters were proven wrong.
Seriously! No hype for an near-WR race? I mean, dive for it!!!!
Great Steeple! Awesome last 500 meters.
Congrats to Billy Nelson on his PB in 8:17 for 11th place.
they did call it a let down before the race but they knew it was going to be something special half way through. 2:36 , 5:16 is spot on pacing.
kipruto looked like he was dropped but ran a an amazing last lap.

That's right, the announcer knew 7:53 was fast, but I would have thought there would be a shout.
Amazingly, I don't think Kipruto had a clue how fast he ran. Eliud Kipchoge met him on the track with a HUGE smile and made him turn around to go back and look at the clock. He was pointing at the clock, jumping up and down like he knew EXACTLY what had just happened.
The steeple was WAAAAY more exciting that that 100m. Koech deserves a ton of credit for pushing it--if somebody had run with his guts int he 5k maybe they would have run 12:4x. 7:53, 7:57 for 3rd and 8:12 gets 10th, probably the best steeple race ever run? This was the best event of the meet hands down.

This steeple might have been the race of the year. Bump
Wow!
We are back!
ONly a few days ago, there was a thread here as to whether we'd see a French Men's 3000m Sc. NOt any more!
Brimin Kipruto has incredible speed but all kudos go to Koech.
AK will no doubt select him thus dropping Chirchir but again, knowing AK, anything is possible with them.
We need Koech in the team to push the pace and break the Frenchmen and Gari Roba.

Yes, Kipchoge looked very excited and happy for Kipruto.
I just hope that AK accommodates Paul Kipsiele Koech in the team. We need him to push the pace. HE's a great racer who doesn't shy away.
Great race. I had to check the WR. I knew it was 7.53 but I didn't know the micro seconds.
'We need Koech in the team to push the pace and break the Frenchmen and Gari Roba.'
I think you team will beat them anyway. Kenya rule the steeplechase!
Brilliant race
Kipruto looks amazing.
I'm predicting a 7:49.

Agreed.
I hope the IAAF doesn't ban Mahiedine Mekhissi Bennabad from the Championships. We need him alongside Boubdallah Tahri as well as Nahom Mesfin, Roba Gari, Yacob Jarso, Kiplagat from Uganda et al.
We need a thriller.

Kipruto will most likely do it. He'll most probably run a WR this year.
I read somewhere that he didn't think he was that close to the WR.
