look at the group that's training. And that's just 1 .group they have hundredths of them... Where else can you see so many runners training in one group.....

Good workout, mostly crappy video...last 2 min or so are decent.
Yes, I noticed they stayed off the 'crete, and no one twisted an ankle!
And lastly there are similar large training groups (of rec. runners!) all over this country. :)
Uhhhh, I'm going to call BS on your last statement. Name ONE training group ANYWHERE in the US made up of over 100 guys that meets every wed to hammer a fartlek significantly under 5 minutes a mile. You just saw the breeding ground of the world's elite right there. Thanks for posting the video.
Wow, I'm pretty stunned that there must be people who follow our youtube channel as I got those videos up as I was working on my piece on the fartlek run which is now finished.
lying about age is now proven beyond any reasonable doubt.
I don't necessarily blame the individual athlete, but certainly AK!!!
Both the sheer number of runners and the culture of running amaze me. Guys just show up and run and because of the number of talented runners already there, undiscovered stars get uncovered.
In my mind, the Dominican Republic produces shortstops in more or less the same way.

Right and nobody else works hard ....
I think it's a combination of genetic and social factors. Generations born and living at altitude, the opportunity to make a better living at running than just about any other profession in Kenya, and large groups of talented runners working together. I'm sure they do work hard, but so do lots of Americans and Europeans, not to mention Ethiopians, Morroccans and Japanese.
It's a cultural thing. Our best athletes are busting their tails in the basketball gym or on the football field, not running distance.
How do they know when to stop and go on the 2 on 1 off?
Does every runner have a watch? Or after they start to split up is it just a free for all?
