Track gets no love from anybody, including its own. What is wrong with us?? Why are there no rich runners that dump some $$ into the sport? XC runners are known for being smart nerdy kids, how have none of them made any cash?

We are going to take all their money. They are stuffing it into mattresses as we speak.
Here is a clue, rich people didn't get rich by giving it away.
Rich people didn't get rich by "dumping" money into things that offer no return. That's why.
This is actually a(rare)worthy subject of discussion. For XC, I put it down to
(a) real runners are by nature cheapskates, they love the cheap simplicity of the sport. Cheapskates rarely hit the bigtime $ because they are too reticent about investment.
(b) Smart Nerdy kids make some $ but generally don't splash it about.
(c) Running is selfish - no-one gives a hoot about others, and many would actually like to go back to the old days when it was a dozen or so itinerants running round the playing fields, and marathon fields of 20 with no marshalls.
(d) XC is not televised well. It could be. In the UK in the 70's there were made-for-TV races that were prime time.
The situation for track has been done to death so I won't repeat all that.

T&F doing very well as it is. It's nice to have people with varied backgrounds. The USA has the #1 track and field team in the world. Track meets, road races, and marathons are more popular with more participants than at any time in history. We should all appreciate our sport.
Americans are delusional.
There's no room for more entries at many Marathons, Roads, Track Meets, XC Races. Certified Officials are having physical breakdowns from too many meets. Race Directors stay up all night doing seeds and emailing city officails. I get emails myself from dozens of people about running this race and that race. It's crazy busy as all effing hell in this sport. If you don't know that then you aint been one of us, dude !
