When shaving your legs if you want the hair to grow back normally do you shave up against the grain or down with the grain. Does it make a difference?

I like to do it in every direction. If you can't make up your mind, Go diagonal.
Down, just like the face. If you shave "up" it encourages ingrown hairs and a difficult angle of cut on the hair shaft.
Women shave upwards, but they can get away with it because there hair is finer and there is less of it.
that show queer eye for the straight guy says to shave with the flow of hair to prevent ingrown hairs. so down.
how is one supposed to shave their own leg hair downwards??
You could actually do both: shave down then shave up.
Men's hair is thicker than (most) women's, and it's longer. That's the problem. Women can get away with shaving opposite the direction of the hair growth because it gives them a much closer shave and doesn't irritate them as much because their hair is thinner and shorter. With thick, long hair, it's best to shorten the hair first and then get a close shave.
I suggest giving yourself a kind of buzz cut on your legs first with the same machine you use for your hair. Then you can go ahead and shave upwards, but do it slowly and clean your razor with every stroke. If you have old hair clogging up your razor you'll get cut more easily. And about the ingrown hairs, you don't have to worry too much about them. By the time you have to shave your legs again they won't even exist or you you could use a pair of tweezers and pull out the few that are left.
Also, please, please use enough shaving cream or gel. It moisturizes your skin so you won't irritate the skin around the hair follicle as you cut it, adn you won't bleed. The hair itself absorbs more moisture and is easier to cut, and your shave will be much closed and smoother, too.
Your choice of a razor is also important. Those Chic Intuition razors work well for us women because, again, we have thinner, shorter hair and it's convenient. It will be hard for you guys to clean off one of those razors every time you finish a stroke. Try either your own trippe-blade razors or venus.
About shaving diagonally...be careful. You should only shave diagonally if the direction of the hair growth is diagonal. Around the knee, for example, is a place where the hair grows towards the kneecap, so you have to shave diagonally (away from the kneecap). Shaving under your knee can get bloody. Shave hard to reach, bony areas like around the ankle and knee with short, repetetive strokes.
And of course it's a good idea to soak in a warm bath. The hair and skin will be extra moisturized and if you cut yourself (which you will, you can't help it) it won't hurt as much.
Get the band-aids ready and have fun.
So, as a guy that has shaved my legs for over 10 years, I would like to know what the concensus from the ladies is on guys shaving? It obviously makes you run faster (not), but I want to know, do the chicks dig it?
I dig it, the same way guys like smooth legs on women. It's smooth and looks good, not much else to it. There are women out there that just go crazy for hairy men, but I'm not one of them. I don't know too many, either.
easiest: shave upwards with a beard trimmer on the lowest setting (or without the guard). You'll end up with 3-5 mm stubble, but so what.
the first time i shaved my legs, went out with a woman the next night. The second she realised i shaved my legs she wouldnt get her hands off em! and errrrrr, lets just say i had a good night....
I started shaving my legs way back when I was a serious cyclist. Never stopped. And now my wife will never let me stop. She digs it. I've always shaved up and have never bothered with trimming first or any of that. What's a little cut now and then?
