when I realized that they were coming through 3k in around 8 minutes, I didn't bother splitting it.

Well if they went through 3K at 8:00 and he finished in 13:06 that would give you ~5:06 for the last 2K.
He was off the pace at 3K, so slightly quicker. Last 1600 for Farah and Rupp was in the 3:57-3:58 range.
How is 5:04 incredible? Last 3k at USA's were 7:36 for Lagat and Solinsky, which is the same pace (2:32/k).
Galen has really got some wheels as of late. i never thought i'd be saying this but i am officially a big fan

I feel the same way. Rupp has won me over with his racing. His 10k finish at nationals was exciting to watch. He's got the tools to compete with the best in the world... So do our other guys.
Because he ran it in a 13;06 race.

Instead of worrying about splits why not celebrate the fact that two guys training under Alberto Salazar went 1-2 in a Diamond League race with a world-class field which included the WXC champion?
I am celebrating it, why can't I look at the splits too?

I am definitely excited about Americans in the distance events this year...but it's definitely good to remember that 5:04 for 2k is still only 12:40 pace. I think the more impressive part of this race was the last lap.

Why is this "definitely good to remember"?
That IS a good thing to remember- Hahaha. So stupid.
