I've been told I pronate (not a lot) after I got a gait analysis at my shoe store. I saw the video my self and I tend to rotate inward. I bought adrenaline gts (2 pair) and have been using them for over a year now.
Any way it is about time I replace them. The thing that is confusing me is that my soles are worn a lot more on the outside than the inside. What I understood is that this happens to supinators (underpronators).
Are these contradicting findings and if not how are they related?
Pronation is natural. Your mistake is getting gait advice from a shoe store clerk. Were you having any issues before getting this analysis?
Yeah. What he said. Pronation is completely 100% natural. It's even up for debate whether over pronation is as terrible as what some people say, or if it doesn't matter much.
My point is, pronation is normal. The standard over pronation definition is basically where you roll too far inward. By your description of you shoes, I would say you could just go with a neutral shoe. Someone would have to be a pretty large over pronator before I was convinced they should get any kind of stability.
They were my first running pair. So, no I did not have any trouble before. I did not think pronation was something bad, but the adrenaline seem to be working for me.
I do have a pair of fastwitch 4, which seem to be hard on my achilles tendon/calves. By now I believe this has probably more to do with the drop.

If it is worn on the outside of the heel, ignore it. People who strike on the outside of their heel often roll forward and pronate in this process. Look at the wear pattern near the toe - is it more to the outside (supinate), inside (pronate), or primarily through the big toe (perfect).
The Adrenaline has a fair amount of support, but if it's working for you stick with them or try a Nike Structure if you're looking for a different shoe with the same benefits. The Structure might have a bit less support but it's pretty similar to the Adrenaline.
A normal wear pattern is generally accepted as wearing on the outside of the heel, middle of the shoe through the arch and forefoot, and right over your big toe in the very front of the shoe. Wearing excessively on the outside may be an indication that this shoe has too much arch support for you. One option would be to try a neutral shoe or a stability shoe with less dense foam in the arch (I'm no shoe expert, so you'd have to get suggestions from your local running store or maybe someone else on this forum has suggestions).
That being said, some would say that if you've had no trouble (injuries) with this shoe then why change?

The wear is on the outside of the middle and becomes less towards the toes. The heel is hardly worn. Also the wear on the left shoes is a lot more on the left shoe than the right shoe. Any idea what this could be?
I feel quite good with the shoes, but for a 115 pound guy these seem a bit chunky. Therefor I was thinking it might be a good experience to try something else.
Well the heel not being worn is a sign that you're a mid-foot striker, which may consider ideal. As for your left shoe being more worn than your right, hard to say why that is. Could be due to always running on the same side of the road, or always running the same direction around the track.
If you think you'd like something lighter, then go for it. Worse case scenario is your body doesn't like them and you have to buy new shoes again.
