You know the 800m girls were watching and they are going to pump come tomorrow. Especially the girls who like to run from the front as they just witnessed someone lead from start to finish.

I saw the race online and that kid was absolutely in a zone. All that 16 year old needed was a red cape because a 800m in 1:44.08 is already flying.
It looks like it's harder to win and medal at World Youth in most events than it is to do so at NCAA, even though some athletes are barely old enough to be in high school.
Men 800m 1.44.08 to win, 1.44.98 to medal
Women 1500m 4.09.48 to win, 4.11.56 to medal
Women 3000m 8.56.36 to win, 8.58.63 to medal...
Wait a second, I was not even running the girls times as a youth...
I don't think that I will see any north American juniors run 1.44.08 in my lifetime (forget youth).
I'm hoping most of this thread is tongue in cheek, because there is absolutely no way any of those winners are of the right age to compete in this competition.
They're cheats. Or at least their federation is.

Only if they are as stupid as you. It doesn't matter whast people run in the youth comp. That doesn't change what we already know about his competition. He needs to outrun them, plain and simple. You are an F'tard.
No matter if they are of the right age or not. If you are a complete stud and run 1.48 for 800m as a Youth (no North American's were that fast this year, in spite of the fact that the Canadian beat the national record in the semi) you can't dream of winning a medal at World Youth. Actually, you probably can't dream about it if you "only" run 1.45.

So this latest 25 year old 'world youth champion' is going to make a lot of money.
It's a shame for the 16 year olds that missed out.
I was truly impressed by the three high school teenagers in the 800m. 1:44.08 wow, Wow, WOW!
Leonard is such a huge talent to run 1:44.08 at age 16. Yes that definitely was so impressive.

Andrews will have to beat guys like these to medal, but remember Andrews, or any of these guys at the World Youth Champs, will have to be in sub 1:43 shape to medal most likely. He's only 20, and the Africans usually peak at a younger age (whether it is their true age or not) than Americans. Robbie Andrews (and a few other Americans) do have a shot to get there. Some of you make it seem like it's a futile effort. Hell any American who has medaled in a distance event in the last 20 years, should have just given up at 20 years old according to some of you. Rich Kenah, Deena, Meb, Shalane, Kara. Someone tell Solinsky, Rupp, Teg, Wheating, Symmonds, Desi, etc., etc. to hang it up. The Africans have already beaten you.

Come on. You know better than to post something like this giving props to African runners. This is letsrun. The inevitable deluge of replies questioning the age of these runners is sure to follow.

If he's 25 y.o., that's a great improvement. The majority of 800m runners peak in their early 20s... What was his pb last year? It think it's more likely that he is 19, 20 or 21 y.o. (but who knows he could be below 19 y.o.). The point is that it's very difficult/almost impossible for a North American to medal in the middle distance at these championship. But then again, who/when was the last North American, who was not born in Africa, to medal at a Open "outdoor" world championship or Olympics in middle distance? So that's quite difficult too.
