Really? I think it would be closer than that. Maybe even a tossup.
Rupp in a time trial, centro anything else.
Rupp would beat centro in a 1500. I could see Rupp running 3:52-53 for a mile right now.
Centro. Because he has the superior kick. And while Rupp is stronger, I don't think he could run away from Centro.
Actually one of these that finally makes you think.
Tough call, if Rupp could not get away prior to 300+ to go, he would never shake him.And if Centro could even get by a possibly tired Lagat, he would have too much for Rupp.

Rupp ran the Pre mile B section last year and ran 3:57 and definitely looked like he was straining as the leaders won in 3:53. AJ Acosta got second and ran 3:53 in that race.
If Acosta can beat Rupp in the mile Centro would destroy him.
Seriously, this is the same guy that pulled away from Lagat. Even if Rupp ran as fast as he could Centro could hang on and outkick him.
I think a 3000 would be a much better battle.
Line up just those two mano a mano and Centro outkicks him. In a race with a strong field coming through 1200 in 3 flat, Rupp pulls away with a long kick from 300 out.
They'd come through the quarter in 67 because nobody would want to lead. The 800 would be reached in 2:14 and then they'd probably hit 1K at 2:46 and Rupp would take off because he knows he can't outkick Centro. Meanwhile, Centrol would sit on Rupp and pass him in the final 120.
Centro outkicked Rupp in the Pac 10 1500 in 2009, the year that Rupp was outkicking everybody else in the NCAA. He'd do it again here.
Centro would beat Rupp @ 2000 meters. Rupp would beat Centro @ 3000 meters. They should race @ 2500 meters and Symonds could be the rabbit for 1200-1500 meters (3:48)
I now think Centro would have the advantage over Rupp at 2000 meters, although in a large field it might be close. Centro appears to be a little better racer than Rupp.

If Rupp knew he couldn't outkick Centro, why would he wait half the race before picking up the pace?
we have some idea of rupp's ability over various distances, but little on centro apart from a pedestrian 3'34 ( he obviously is better than this )
i'm pretty sure rupp at his peak woud be :
~ 51.5 / 1'48.5 -> 3'32.8 , 4'49.5 , 7'26.2
for centro, i'd hazard a start with :
~ 49.5 / 1'46.4 -> 3'32.1 , 4'50.5 , 7'32.0
possibly centro is also a strength guy as far as 1500ers are concerned ( most have 48 speed, but he has no listed 800 & seemed to do well at 2 miles )
the only thing worth taking away is that rupp's strength is good enough to get him a win over such a short distance as 2k against a newly minted top 1500er
No contest, Centro
hands down no contest. Centro is third best in the world in the 1500. Thats only 500 meters shy of 2k. Rupp is a 10K guy.....

Dude, Rupp is nowhere near a 3:32/7:26 guy. Seriously? He could run 3:36 AT BEST in the 1500 right now, and MAYBE 7:34-35 in the 3K.

in ventolin's defense, he did say "at his peak" and "would be"
