After USATF, they should tear up Leer's contract and give it to Wieczorek. Give him Torrence's while they're at it. That guy cost me big in the contest, while Wieczorek has coached himself to a PR and 5th in the tough 800 final.
Well he was with OTC Elite so without looking into this further I'm guessing that he was let go to make room for someone faster and since he's not a superstar he's not going to get picked up by someone else very quickly.
You're probably right. Just seems unfair. Hopefully he can market himself a bit after this result.
a 1:46.00 just isnt what it used to be and theres not alot of money to be had...5th place at usa\'s is solid but one fluke race at that level wont turn many heads and with all the young guys running so well this year it wouldnt be surprising to me if he still cant get a sponsor. he needs to hit the olympic a standard this summer and then maybe he will have a better shot. to say he deserves wills or torrences contract is silly though, they both have done far more to deserve their contracts imo
The 800 is brutal right now, not only with current depth but with up-and-coming collegiates and even HSers seemingly blowing through what were previously barriers as if they were tissue paper. 24/25 is almost long in the tooth for sponsorship at this stage (props of course to "old man" KD)
