I hope you fans of front running enjoyed that women's 800! Alysia Montano leading wire to wire for the win, 56.xx first lap!

very impressive, all I could talk about the entire race is how f*cked she was come the last 100 meters, and she completely made me eat those words, very gutsy race
I was hoping she'd pull out the win. Both she and Wurth-Thomas kept things interesting, although I wished W-T had been able to hold on for at least a place on the team. Brave races for both these women--risky... "come back with your shield or on it" kinds of races... When successful, they're hailed as brilliant... otherwise, criticized as reckless. Either way, 'in your face" performances.
Awesome race!

Me too. I loved the way she ran.
A good experience for Maggie Vessey to prep for Daegu.

Speaking of Vessey, does anyone think she has shown a lot more racing maturity this year?
First of all she just looks fitter. But she has also raced smarter. Instead of running way at the back she is positioning herself to make effective use of her kick.
In fact, tactically she ran her race a lot like Symmonds. But of course Montano was a lot stronger at the end than Jock.

Her dad I am sure is proud of her looking down from heaven.
Montano also looks fitter than ever. She used to be a bit bulky (in a muscular way). Now she looks leaner, more like a true 800m runner rather than a 400m runner. I actually think she has a realistic shot at the American record this year.

I noticed this as well. The exact same thought went through my head "She looks less like a bulky 400m runner and more like a strong 800m runner."
