Let alone break MJ's record.
He was close couple years ago, but unless he gets on some serious dope, no way hasay!

Seems doubtful. But remember that MJ didn't run his PB until he was almost 32. Wariner is 27. I think a 400m runner's prime comes in their mid-to-late 20s. With Wariner healthy and back under the guidance of Clyde Hart, he'll get back into the 43s. He seems positive and confident too, which is good to hear.
It is time Wariner moves up to 800m or Mile.
Let alone the Galaxy or Universe Games.

FTW
I don't think he even makes finals with his recent performances. Unless Clyde Hart has something up his sleeve Warriner is in big trouble for WC.

I don't see it happening. Anyone think he'll move up?
Wariner is still far away from a peak phase of training. Every single year in his career he has peaked in August and most often in late August.
All of these college guys maintained their peak after the collegiate season for their countries trials. Pinder, Bartholomew, McQuay and Henry have all run a ton of races since January. Many times they ran 3 or 4 events at a meet or 5 or 6 at a relay meet over the course of a weekend. These guys are going to be a bit tired running championship rounds and continuing with the sprint training for another month and a half.

You might want to look at the current state of the 400 competition before making a statement like that. It's not like there are a bunch of low 44 guys out there.
For now, Wariner is done.
You can see it in his eyes and in his body language, just like Gay in his prelim.
If I'm a shark, I'm smelling blood in the water.
I'm not saying he is done forever--but right now, he's out of it. Something's not right, and he knows it. He PROJECTS it.
Vitamin deficiency? Too much meat? Not enough meat? Time for a new bed? Time for new friends/change of scenery?
Whatever it is, Wariner knows it's there--and thus, he has already lost.

Yes, but you're not a shark.
He's an Olympic Champion and he knows how to race. I think his moment of weakness was at the trials. I think getting through that got him his reprieve.
It is time for him to step it up. I think he will medal, and I give him an even chance to win.
Sprint Geezer,
Do you know anything about sprinting. JW just finished second in the USAs 400m, the second toughest meet of the year. He ran 44.9, around the same time he always runs in June. He always runs faster in August. He has never failed to medal in big races, winning gold more often than not. He is a proven big time racer, one of the best we have. Plus, he always runs a killer leg for us in the 4x400m. He's our best big meet performing sprinter, and you should, as a sprinter, recognize this.
