Rupp ran 1:52-1:53 looking very smooth and relaxed. Last lap as 54. Look out for Rupp to be a dark horse in August.

Yeah right. Right there "with him" when Mo Farah finished in 26:40, Rupp had two full laps left to go. Embarrassing. What a joke!
That entire race was incredibly disappointing. That slow, really? I bet the world's 10K runners are just licking their chops at how easy it will be to beat these Americans.

Yes, if he can throw down a 54 final 400 when running 27:00 pace instead of 29:00 pace for the first 6 miles of the race, I agree, he will have a good shot at a medal.
He just smoked Teg off a dirt slow pace, Teg being guy who almost nabbed a medal once. Can see why Solinsky dropped out of fear, he'd have been 3rd at best in this race what with him always losing in kicks to Teg and Rupp.
Yep. Solinsky was scared as all hell of Galen.
Teg doesn't believe in himself.
Somewhere right now Kenenisa Bekele is laughing his ass off as the "best" U.S. runners struggled to break 29 min in the 10,000m...which I'm sure is a SLOW tempo pace for ol' Bekele or any other East African. What a damn joke!

Bekele doesn't have to run trials to make his countries team.

Rupp probably could have pulled a 1:52 RUNNING 27:00 pace. He was barely pumping his arms with his 1:52 today. Uh, where's Ventolin when you need him....
He closed in closer 1:55 going 61,54 from what i saw on video

You're getting way too excited about nothing.
Solinsky has done an 800 that fast closing a 26:59.
Farah has done a faster 400 closing 26:46.
Frankly, I don't care if he closed in 54, 52 of f-ing 50. Off of that pace no conclusions can be drawn.
I'll give you this: if the men's WC final goes slower than the women's race, Rupp will be in the hunt. So will every other man in the final, as EVERYONE at that level can kick sub-55 off of a jog.

FOR THE LAST TIME, KEY WORDS IN MY POST: GALEN LOOKED EXTREMELY SMOOTH AND RELAXED HIS LAST TWO LAPS. He looked like he was holding back and could have went much faster if he wanted to. Also, he beat Tegenkamp by a over a second, a guy who definitely has some speed, and let's not forget a medal in the 5000m. Say what you want, but Rupp is in tremendous shape right now.

Damn right I will.
No conclusions can be drawn from the last two laps of a 10k "race" that went slower than his HALF MARATHON PACE.
Last time Rupp was in a fast 10000 he got rolled by Solinsky. Not even close. He had zero response. Is he more fit now? I think so, but I DON'T think anything about tonight's race proved it.
Let's see him "kick" in a fast 10000 before we declare him fit for a WC medal.
I would love to hear from Malmo on this subject. Malmo, you may find this thread a waste of time (I don't presume to know), but it would be interesting to hear your perspective on the following:
The Rupp-Solinsky rivalry (based on your own experience)
Rupp: Kicking off a slow pace, and what conclusions we might draw

Dude, how much times do I have to tell you? The pace did not matter. We all know it was very slow. I am basing my prediction on Rupp's fitness based off his SMOOTHNESS of his last 2 laps. He looked like he was bored out of his mind (he probably was). So how can you say that no conclusions can be made off this race? Just shutup already, you're really starting to bore people with your antics.
Also, he beat Tegenkamp by a over a second
He beat Tegenkamp by over a second? In a 10k?! Holy smokes!
the only conclusion you can draw is that he can run 29min pace with a mask on.
That's pretty f***ing tough to do. gotta f*** with his air-flow.
Seriously, he better look easy kicking off that pace. If you ran a 10k 2mins slower than your PR then you'd be able to f***ing kick too.
What conclusions can we draw from someone kicking off a slow pace??? Is just that -- he can kick off a slow pace. and it means he can win USAs. We don't need Malmo to tell us that.
It says absolutely nothing about his fitness otherwise
He looked good - but so did ten other guys in the race
