4:12-15 for an actual mile.
A better test is 10 x 400m w/60 sec rest. If you keep the rest strict, this is a good predictor for a Mile/1600.
6 x 400 is easier to fake, as you noticed on your last two reps.
no way, much slower than that 4:20+
???
12 x 400m in 63 secs ave. w/ 50-55 secs recovery (jogging)
at 7000 ft altitude
???
Really, it seems difficuly to guess a potential time from a workout. Why not run a time trial with a training partner pacing?
I have heard that the session to do if you think you can break the 4minute mile is.....
10x400m w/ 1min recovery in <60s.
If you can do that, you will be a sub 4min miler!
On saturday we ran 12 by 400m,with 60sec recovery all in 61/62 and im yet to break four mins for the 1500 yet alone the mile,I think that time is in for a review come the track season!
12 quarters in 61-62 with a min rest? i doubt i could pull that off and i'm a 408 miler. if you cant break 4min for 1500 then somethins wrong man. personally i think your full a shit.
I ran 8x400 in 68 with 60 seconds recovery and ran 4:23.
I also ran 6x400 in 65 (30, 35 splits due to wind) with 400m recovery and ran 4:13...
Go figure!
If we're doing the workout game...
What is 3x(5x200) in 29 with 45sec in between each 200 and 3 mins in between each set an indicator of?
sorry buddy, i guess i should have explained the situation a bit more, Ive been running around 4years now, In my fist year I ran 4.12 1500m and 2nd year a 4.06. Since then I have not a run a 1500m and thats why I have yet to break 4mins. Im am in the best shape of my life right now, so I have no doubts ill break 4 mins for the 15, im gunning for the mile maybe not this year but certainly in the near future.
what type of recovery are we talking about here? Jog, walk, or standing for 60 sec?
Primarily standing but for me thats quite a bit harder than jogging so first 20-25 standing around then the remainder jogging. Id love to stay and chat but ive got a 10miler with my name on it
Heres a track workout to think about: 30 by 200m in under 30secs with 30secs recov, I have not tried it but i heard it mentioned on this board before- what you think?
Guest2....I'm not doubting your abilities but 30X200m at 29's or better with 30 sec rest? If you can't break 4 minute mile from that workout you are the biggest Workout King to ever lived.

P.S. You need to have a good base to do that anyways.
