Did anybody see Josh Glaab's 13:35 at New Mexico? At first I thought this was a typo. I'm not exactly sure of the altitude, but I think it's 4000-6000 ft. The second place time was 14:55 and it did not appear there was a rabbit. It's the fastest time in the nation for NCAA and is more impressive than Cragg's 13:17 at sea level, with comp. For a guy who was not that well known, this breakout race could be the beginning of some very big things. Please let me know if you were there!

someone posted this yesterday, someone was at the meet and said they miscounted the laps so he had one more to go.
Anyone else know the scoop on this. Colorado State's web site said Glaab broke the school record and has the leading time in the nation. Why would they say that if it was a lap off. Does his time stand?

I was the one at the meet. He did not lap anyone and did have an extra lap to go. Trust me the whole event was messed up. Many runner ran extra laps and many runners that ran don't have times posted because the lap count was so off.
No offense..but to run 13:35 for 5k at that altitude would convert almost below 13:10! So i don't think he ran that fast. Use some common sense and realize that if he ran this time he would have to pr by a minute.
At least he ran a PB for the 4600-meter event at altitude no less.
ok ok so everyone knows he ran a lap short, but the rule says that the race is over one lap after they fire the gun, right? Does this make it an "official" time for the 5k??? Ive been looking all over the net and have seen articles and results for this race, and nothing official even mentions that he was a lap short, just that he is a glorious runner. whats goin to happen with this???
nothing will happen. His time will be recorded, people will say wtf, and he will be eliminated badly in his 5k heat at NCAA if he decides to go.
I have no tolerance for messed up lapcounting. There are way too many incompetent officials floating around at many meets except the majors.

If the head timer has signed off on it it's an official time I think.
I was also there and he was lapping a lot of people. The counting was off but no one was taking the time seriously since everyone knew it was a lap short. The story on CSU's website was based on the results from UNM but is now corrected. He's not accepting this race as a pr or anything serious and it's kind of a joke since so much attention has been given to it. People need to let it go.
