bummer
shin does him in.
Leaving Al Salz group really paying off for Alan.
See you at Taco Bell Alan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Did you know if you reconfigure the letters in his first name you can spell "ANAL"?
Listen, Webb is done. No joking here, the guy trained like an animal from 01-07, peaked in 07. He is shot. He will never return close to his 143, 330, 346, 1310 form ever again. EEEEEVVVVVEEEEERRRRR
Does this mean that he isn't running world championships this year?
To be honest, I expected him to run US Champs but not actually make the team, getting overtaken by one of our many up-and-coming young guns over the last 80-100m. I think most of LRC also did not actually expect him to make the team and that's why you aren't seeing that many responses on here (you would expect a TON considering he's the AR holder). This'll likely just put off another round of Webb-bashing for a couple months until he runs another race and gets smoked, affirming once more that he'll never return to that magical form.

taco bell??
yeah....right.
There are lots of opportunities available for good runners. Race director, coaching at any level, writing a book, doing commentary in runnersworld, etc.
Taco bell is definitely not something I'd worry about alan going to. Not to mention, he could always make money in the lower level road races across the nation.
FU Nike. Webb can train on his own and win 90% of the road races in the country.
How does one pull a shin muscle? I had shin splints one time I can't remember who told me two valuable exercises.
This is assuming one currently doesn't have shin issues and is healthy.
a. toe raises - standing on the feet and lifting both heels simultaneously off the floor till one is balancing on the toes then slowly lower back on the heels.
b. This is a great one. Lie flat on your stomach on the floor or in bed, foot extended. Keeping both legs together press the forefoot/toes down into the floor, you should feel the stretch in your shin if correctly done. Do a set of 10 till you feel the stretch in the shin. Never had shin splints again.
Does anyone know if Alan Webb have a new shoe contract?
If not, I bet he's not racing until he gets a new one. He can't afford a sub-par race if he's trying to get a long-term deal.
Of course, if he was confident he was going to crush it in the long term, he could pull a Walter Dix and come back and race with no contract and kick butt and watch the $$ rise.

Not sure if serious.
Wasn't it just this past Thanksgiving that he beat Rupp on the road in 13:xx? Maybe he's not in shape to win an Olympic medal, but he'll do fine.
Alan Webb IS running at USATF...
...running the hotdog stand!
Stick a fork in him.
Remember what the Bible says: He who is without sin, cast the first rock. And I shall smoketh it.
he should become a sport psycologist
