I appreciate you taking the time to answer these quick questions. So I have to get non-running related surgery in about 3.5 weeks and I'm not allowed to run for 2 weeks afterwards. I'm training for XC and this week I'll be at 38 mpw. I should be up to 50/55 the week before my surgery and I'm just wondering how much fitness do you think I will lose? Additionally, I have to be able to run ~10:30 for 2 miles by mid-August (about 5 weeks after I can start running again) to not get cut. I'm an 800/miler so that's not my specialty, but I think I'm capable of that. My concern is that I'll only have 5 weeks to get back into shape.
I've considered cross training, and here's the deal with that: I can't get the cut wet for a week afterwards and I can't get sweat in it for 2 weeks afterwards. I'm assuming (have to clarify) that I can swim after one week. I really do appreciate your effort in reading and responding.
