recently I switched to training in racing flats. my body pretty much forced itself to forefoot striking--awesome. it feels great, I feel fast, etc. etc.
except, my calves are super sore. like, unbelievably sore. they've been like this for the past week and a half, since I made the shoe switch. I tried running in clunky trainers again and it just felt awkward and not pleasant at all, and even after a few days my calves were still pretty sore. I really really like running in racing flats. it feels great--except for the stupid calves. they just won't seem to let up. I'm not running mileage I'm unfamiliar with, not by a long shot. (40 mpw in doubles and I was at one point running 60 mpw in singles). I'm trying to build up slowly. will this calf pain ever go away? should I slow down, speed up, what's going on??? are compressions socks the answer? stretching afterwards? I'm really at a loss, and I'd really love to hit that point where I can just forefoot strike without my calves burning during and after runs. have any of you guys been there & does it get better after awhile? how long does it take?
any thoughts/advice/personal experiences/trolling/etc would be appreciated
