Actually, he's not. And I'm sure that on a daily basis he shows way more courage and integrity than you do. And I'm sure that if you ever had the opportunity to speak to him, you'd keep your opinion to yourself.
If you had allergies you would know that meds can only decrease superficial symptoms, not prevent them entirely. Even with meds it is likely he would be unable to perform within 30 seconds of his 10K capability.

OTC meds treat mostly externally seen symptoms i.e. runny nose, eyes that are bloodshot and runny, sneezing etc. They do little to help loosen the lungs to allow free breathing. Prescription meds don't help a lot either. Those that do sometimes cause rapid heartbeat, dizziness and drowsiness.

One bad event can set you way back on training.

I wasn't downplaying the effect of allergies. I used to have horrible allergies all through high school and college, and on days when they were bad I ALWAYS ran shitty races respective to what I was capable of. The allergy meds available to me at the time all made me sleepy and lethargic, so they weren't an option. But I thought that maybe there are some good ones out there now, which wouldn't matter to a person like Rupp if they're disallowed by the IAAF.

I was wondering the same thing. And how does that guy know what level of courage the anonymous poster he's trying to flame shows on a daily basis? Maybe that guy is in the special forces, who knows...
And for the record, I'd call Rupp a pussy to his face without a moment's hesitation. It would probably be good for him. It's one thing to train and race hard. It's another, much more courageous, thing to train and race hard through adversity. All signs are the latter just is not on Rupp's agenda.
Over the counter drugs didn't work for me.
Injections did.
Zyrtec is non-drowsy.
