Not that it was an upset but A.J. Acosta barely qualified in the 1500. I wonder what's going on with him.
He might be a "bald tire" by now.
Too much double/ triple racing!
How about David McCarthy, Julius Bor, and Christian Gonzalez all failing to make it out of the first round in the mens 1500 east regional??
Alfred Kupchumba (sp?)of Portland failed to qualify in the 10,000, which I guess is a surprise. His coach thought he would qualify easily.
The west region being better than the east..oh wait you asked for surprises
The East region had terrible weather yesterday.
Boru Guyota is in the final at the West Regional. There was an appeal after he was impeded and had his shoe clipped off at the end I guess. So he will now be in the final along with Greer who also made it.
Wow, what a surprise. An oregon runner who just missed making the final gets handed a spot.
kendra schaff appears to have not qualified in the 10000
I am Surprised by these guys not making and a Fr Parker Stinson getting in
Elliot Krause SO Wisconsin 29:24.58
Eric Fernandez SO Arkansas 29:29.91
Mike Torchia SR Minnesota 29:30.38
Andy Wacker JR Colorado 29:32.06
Is that sarcasm supposed to imply that Oregon just cheats to get athletes to the final? Watch the video, and read the appeal. 2nd thru 4th were .05 away from each other, and according to the appeal someone directly impeded Boru at the end and they've moved him on to the final.
These kinds of things happen at League Champs, and Regionals every year. Nature of racing, sometimes a runner gets illegally impeded.
kendra schaaf was tripped in the last 500 meters and fell to the track. She looked really good last night leading most of the last 400 meters. She tried to chase down the pack could not get back into it
Thats such a hard way to go down, you run a great race and then with one bad step youre down. Schaaf has one year left doesnt she?
I do run run run wrote:

Is there a way to watch the video? I would love to see that race as well as many others.

Sambu NCAA runner-up in XC didn't make in 5k. Neither did Hassan Mead.
It was a stacked section for sure but if you can't get top 5 in a heat, you're probably not going to do anthing at the show.
Did you actully watch the race video, via live stream broadcast? It was a pretty valid appeal, not enough to dq the other runner, but valid appeal never the less.

His coach is incredibly over rated. Poor Dunbar.
Says she is only a sophomore. So she would have 2 years left. She did qualify in the 5000 though.
A.J. Acosta finished 2nd in his heat...."barely qualified"? What is that all about, he easily advance--only needed top 5.
