Wow...newsworthy? Nope.
Sorry, but a close call isn't news. Especially on that stretch of road. Close calls there EVERYDAY, even with more famous people than Ritz.
Sorry, but for this to be an article or "news" story is a bit much.
When I first read the headline, I was thinking that he was running and was grazed by another car....now THAT would be newsworthy.
...and I didn't proofread very well, obviously...otherwise, I would've omitted one of the "sorrys"....

Really? Close calls with famous people every day? I ride that road every week or so. I had no idea that famous people were in jeopardy all around me.

I said more famous than Ritz. That isn't very hard.
There are quite a number of relatively famous locals on 84 on any given day....think Blazers, a Nike exec or two that I know of, a few locally famous entrepreneurs....
....all who are more famous than Ritz.
Again, a close call IN A CAR on 84 isn't newsworthy, no matter who you are (unless you're surrounded by Secret Service Agents).
Now, if Ritz were RUNNING along 84 - that MIGHT make the news.

Well, it's not like Ritz himself made a big deal about it. He didn't post the article. Ryan Hall however, thought it was newsworthy that his plane was struck by lightning.
This is all Twitter generated stuff (Ritz about the car, Hall about lightning). If people only put "newsworthy" things on Twitter, there wouldn't be anything on Twitter. The point of Twitter is kind of that it isn't news, but everyday stuff that they put out for fans or for friends they communicate with through Twitter.
The running sites that pick up the Twitter info and run stories about it are the ones making a decision about what is "news."
