Anyone run the Berlin marathon? Obviously a fast one. Is there any kind of sub-elite/competitive start? ( I am a 2:30 guy).

I have run Berlin the last two years. As I recall, there were three seeded starting area's near, or at the front. All make it possible to cross the wide start line within 5-10 seconds. The first group is the invited runners...about 30-40 men and women. Elite men start on the right side, while elite women start on the left side. The second group is anyone sub 2:30, while the third group is from 2:30-2:50. Provide results from a previous marathon to guarantee your starting place. The race is well organized, and managed. Also note the splits are every kilo (not mile)...the crowds match both Boston and NY, and the course is as fast as Chicago. The only possible drawback is the long flight to Berlin.
Good luck
Mike
