Word in Boulder is that Brent and Sara Vaughn are relocating to Portland (in the near future) to join Jerry's group. Actually, not sure if Sara is joining Jerry's group, or if she'll still be coached by Jay Johnson.

Why the mass exodus from Jay Johnson's group over the past year?
im guessing its to be with other faster runners.. jay doesnt exactly pull in the top tier talent
but also boulder hasnt exactly produced talent on a consistent basis..talent does go there but the results dont show for training there..also it could be why dathan left because the ground is too hard..
Where did Renee Metvier relocate to? I thought that it was just Jay?

Your head is too hard.
im just saying.. remember hudson said in one of the flotrack videos that the softer oregon ground would be better for training and not be brutal on his legs compared to the boulder ground.. i guess hudsons head is too hard as well

I think it is a mass exodus from Boulder. Take a look at what Anericans will be left after 2012.
Torres and Hartmann are both retiring. What Americans are left?
You're just saying stupid things. Ritz was just as injury prone in Oregon under Hudson as he was in Colorado. He's still injury prone under Salazar in Oregon. What's the common denominator? Hint: not Colorado nor Oregon nor Hudson nor Salazar. You guess wrong, stop being a bonehead.
So are you saying that Jay is the problem here?
I think it is sort of funny that all these Nike athletes are being forced to train under Jerry. The fact that Nike offers one amount to stay with current coach, but another to join OTC (Salazaar, rowlands, schumacher) is despicable.
What has Jerry Schumacher done on World level?
Too bad for Johnson/Vaugn in particular; I know Brent had a lot of respect for Jay and his non-conventional methods.
But yet most graduating athletes think that a Nike contract is a golden ticket.
Who is left in Boulder?
It's a myth that the surface you run on has a connection to how likely you are to get injured, other than something like a twisted ankle if you are running somewhere with a bunch of potholes. Daniels did studies on the matter.
The ground being hard is not that big of a deal, don;t forget that many greats trained almost solely on hard roads, like Bill Rodgers in Boston, even Eugene before the woodchips. Boulder has lots of trails, the main issue with them is that most are steep and some are rocky. Uneven single track is not the best place for elite runners. I think their all leaving Boulder cause the top American training groups are no longer their and maybe Jay Johnson isn;t the best coach for him.

What has ANY American done on the world level? (other than flanagan's bronze)

Where is this mythical research? Direct me to where I can find this. On second thought I'm sure your word is solid as oak. I'll just go with the random message board guy since no message boarder has ever mislead anyone in the history of the internet.
Vaughn has been injured and not run a step since WXC so unsure if he will be any value to anyone really.

I thought Torres retired after the 2008 Olympics. Where has he been?
i ran against ritz in high school, we were in the same conference together and the guy was never injured in high school

The Flanagan bronze medal was a coach Cook product by the way.

Are you kidding me? Schumacher is easily the best coach for male distance runners in the country. Tegenkamp and Solinksy have consistently performed at a World Class level. Jager in '09 did as well. Simon Bairu broke the Canadian record for 10k. Tim Nelson has come from being a so-so collegiate runner to one of the fastest American 10k runners ever and a favorite for the Olympic team. Bumbalough has already run huge PR's in multiple events and is looking like he might make the World Champs team in the 5k right now.
Easy decision for Vaughn to join OTC in Portland.
