they have until august 8th to get the qualifier.

note- the IAAF has a deadline of august 15th to get the qualifier, but the USATF is making the deadline for its (USA ATHLETES) a week earlier.

not that it will matter as the last big meet before worlds is london on august 5-6 amd i am sure we will have more than 3 athletes under 3:35 for 1500 so we will have the full 3 team members.

but why is USATF not just going by the deadline the IAAF set?

it makes no sense to have a week disadvantage in the window for qualifying.

USATF has the early date so they can get their team set up and travel and visa arrangemenst in place.

I believe last time they required the athletes to have the standard coming out of the trials. But prior year's times counted then.

Woah Nick Symmonds is in there too. He's never struck me as a miler at all... I'm interested to see how it goes.

American citizens get at least 30 days of visa free travek in South Korea. For this year's world championships, the qualifying window for all events outside of the 10000m, marathon and walks opened on October 1 of last year. And you do have the option of chasing the standard up to a certain point, but only the top four finishers at US Nationals will considered for the team.

You're not too far off, he's gotter bigger since college and hasn't run any great times as a pro.

nick willis is the rabbit not symmonds. symonds will own house if he runs a smart race, for he has a ton of potential and is unproven in the 1500

Leer is on fire this year. Evan Jager should be interesting. Wheating is the favorite in my mind, even though he has yet to do anything this year. Symmonds will be interesting to watch, if he really isn't a pacer. It would have been great to see willis actually race this race. Manzano and Lomong are always solid (granted, sometimes manZano is inconsistent).

I wonder if Alan even tried to sign up for this race...its pretty loaded as is. This is exactly the type of race he needed to enter...He should be running against the returning US Olympic members and Olympic hopefuls (considering he lands in both categories).

well webb is running the hengelo 1500 against a better field than this, cant say he is ducking only that he has bigger fish to fry.

in this race they will be trying to go sub 3:35, hengelo with its field will almost certainly go 3:32 or better.
