At the Occidental Invitational in L.A., Willie Gault ran 10.88 100m, and 22.44 200m, to set two WR's in the 50-54 age group.

What's worse, he ran the 22.44 from LANE 1.
I won't be in that bracket for 6 or so years, but he's already killed the 45-49 bracket for me at 10.72.
I love Willie Gault, it would be fun to run against him some day.

Not as fast as Willie Gault, unfortunately.
What kills me is the 200m in lane 1.
I always run in lane 1, because I always run with guys faster than me--I get the lane 1 shaft, like Willie.
So it's reasonable to believe that he could go faster later in the season, from a better lane.
I'd be totally blown away if he could go 21.xx in the 200m. I wish more old elites would maintain their fitness and keep running, like Fredericks and Lewis in the 200m, for example.

Don't feel bad- Willie actually had/has talent.
most people who were good athletes when they were young are not fitness buffs and therefore dont excerside much as they get older. The examples are endless.
Most people who are crazy fit as masters were not good athletes when they were younger.
Unfortunately for people who were great athletes as a younger person, it is probably better to be fit later in life if you plan on living a long time.
