The first problem I see is that it relies on you hitting a button every time a runner goes by. This gets really tedious, and in some cases impossible, the larger the meet, leading to incorrect results.

All in all, a good idea, and could be very cool for smaller duals and tri meets. I'm not sure of a simple way around the problem I raised that would work a for a simple android app, but I know I couldn't imagine getting accurate results out of it in a large invite with hundreds of runners and a dozen runners finishing within 5 seconds.

Your points are very well taken. Of course this app won't work for a large number of teams packed together-- I think it can work pretty well though for up to 8 teams--well at least after the first mile or so. Now if I can just figure out a way of scanning the runners as they went by with a super laser shooting out of my Android---just kidding (I think). :)

Thanks coach for telling everyone so they can produce a similar product and get it to market before I am able. I would have been able to give money to the program but now I will transfer to another school. I plan on running around the course next fall ahead of the guys stuck with you.

That was pretty funny. The guy making the App couldn't care less if someone else "steals" his idea-- and also he is not a runner AND is a senior-- not transferring. Good try though. : )
