frosh mary cain 4:23 ny state 1500 record
What a talent!
Also has run a national leading 2:06 800 this season, and closed a DMR 1600 in 4:41, both in April. Definitely one to watch over the next few years...could be a bigger talent than Sarah Baxter...next Jordan Hasay?
Cuffe also ran 4:23 yesterday, winning by 21 seconds. Some top times coming from NY!
that's mary decker talent, not hasay.
In between.

She also has run 55 for the 400. She doesn't look like a lot of Freshman phenoms either.
Slower than Hasay at that age, I believe (by 2 seconds?) in the 1500 but faster than Hasay at 400 and 800.
Maybe even faster in the 400 NOW against Hasay.
and she knows how to tape her shoes!
she'll pwn fernandez then.
Mary Cain, is she black?
go back into your hole.
wait and see on this one. who knows what the transition will be like? but 55/2:06/4:23 (out in 64!) at 14? her comments seem very mature. this looks like the next coming. that being said, instead of hyping her, just sit back and let the news appear over the next few years and then hopefully by 2016, we'll have another medal contender.

I think it's just a tad bit premature to start talking medals, next coming, etc., but 4:23 for a hs frosh girl is insane! Not to mention 2:06. That's 10 seconds faster than I ran as a frosh for the 1500, and I later ran in FL, D1 championships, etc. Extremely impressive- let's hope she stays healthy (physically and mentally).
She looks very short in that picture
She just ran a 9:28 NY State Frosh record in the 3000 meters. Insanely good time for a freshman. Should be a great battle at the State Meet with Cain, Cuffe, and Nadel.
She looks real young.
Once she hits puberty, it's over.
Remember Briana Jackeiwicz? 16:45 as a 7th grader.
Hasn't run a step in college.
Enjoy it while it lasts.

7th grader in that one. More recent pictures suggest that she has grown
her splits were 1:06.5 (400m), 2:18.9 (800m) and 3:31.3 (1200m) .

That picture is from two years ago...
I wouldn't say anything is over-- the girl ran a state record in the 1500 and didn't look tired. Her coach, Jim Mitchell, has been around the block more than a few times, producing more than 100 all americans. She's in great hands...
