Ark 2nd, BYU 3rd. A team with two guys sub 3:40 in Ark can't get it done today, VU must've benefited from a 'homefield' advantadge.
From the splits listed on the Penn site it appears no anchors went sub-4.

Van Ingen was close perhaps but they were too far back so no recorded split.

I thought I heard 25.0 for Gibney from announcer, almost makes sense, man was he flying.
First opening leg 1200 was 1:59 Thru 800, and race still got strung out.
But when you got to the 16 legs, it was 62 out, 2:04, many got back in then even slower again probably, and then 6-7 teams in it with 250 to go.
Batty goes first over, Ulrey tries to get by Gibney , who moves quickly to hold him off, and goes after Batty, at top of turn once Gibney went to outside I kind of thought he would get there first as he did this to Ulrey two years ago.
Arkansas should have anchored Phillips, Ulrey needs to move up to 5k, the kids got huge potential but I think its in the 5k/10k I think that shows up in his XC performances. Yes I know he made the world team, but it was a weak year.
There must be injuries in Fayetteville, because that would be the only logical explanation for the lineup they ran today.
Move Phillips to the leadoff and replace him at the 800m with Momoh or Bilbrew.

DP would've been the class of the field in that spot and could have had a go at stringing the whole group out. You give Ulrey some space from chasers, he's stronger than pure mile types and has a shot at running away from the front.
Any other armchair QBs out there? Any one know the status of Dey (ran 1:48 indoors)?
where has Nova freshman chris fitzsimmons (sp) been? wasn't he one of the top 800 recruits in the nation? is he injured?
Fitzsimmons was sick and had been, opened at 1:53.2 in low key meet, will probably use a red shirt.
he opened at 2:27.x 1000M indoors but got a bit ill.
dey is hurt...been battling injuries since indoor season. momoh ran the smr anchor tonight so they were saving him for that. and cantero skipped outa town at the end of indoor season. bilbrew ran the 4 on the smr. they didn't run their "best" squad cause anyone would expect ulrey to be able to win in a sit and kick. but he's still knocking the rust off. and hands down a great run by nova. don't forgot ulrey still outkicked batty, who is considered to be the top dog in the ncaa 15 right now.
Do not forget that Gibney has now smacked Ulrey and others 2 out of two times they had a chance.
Nova was second last year , now won 2-3 and a second.
