The two are one and the same. He only registered his first and last name for London and his middle and last name for Boston. He felt compelled to do this because otherwise the race directors wouldn't have offered him appearance fees, knowing that he wasn't 100% focused on their race alone.

Haven't three men named Robert K Chruyiot won Boston and/or NYC? Two guys with last names Mutai is less probability I would say.
They are not related. I heard Geoffrey say so today at the press conference. I think the US, because it is a country of immigrants, has more family names than do most countries so we are more likely to expect that people with the same last name are related.
