You are watching international matches for years and still quoting jumps in feet
You can run in metres and even have stupid events like the 3,200m. That at least should be 2 miles
Get with the system!

I feel your pain, mate! Every time I have to do the weirdest calcualtions in my head to figure out how high or far these peiople jumped/threw. But what can you do....
Quoting jumps in feet is the best way to make sure most people here know how far the jump was. It's the way the US understands distances.

qfe
understanding that 3200m ~ 2 miles is different from understanding that 1.95m ~ 6'4 3/4"; it's a lot harder to convert mentally between such small distances, and we essentially measure everything of that scale as feet, so that's what we understand
also, in high school, distances are usually still officially measured in feet, so there's no reason to convert it to metric

Because this is the US. We run the 3200m because it is 8 laps instead of 8 laps and 18 meters.
Seriously, America, get with f***ing program.
And can someone tell me what 6'8" is in metric?
Ok asshole, we're sorry we don't entirely use the metric system in our track and field measurements. That's still better than the f***ing retarded way Europeans represent decimals 1,000.00 does not equal 1.000,00 seriously that shit pisses me off.
Our jumpers are used to jumping in feet. Do you really expect all of the jumpers in the country to relearn to jump in meters?
Imagine how much farther they would jump in it was recorded in inches.
they are primitive that`s all...look where they are on the iq list
It took centuries for the UK to adopt the sensible American definitions of "billion" and "trillion." Maybe they'll go back to feet soon.
How many times do I have to tell you English, we couldn't care less how you think we should do things over here!
I want to see my field events measured in feet, godd@mnit!

That's right!! If we had them cut off we be jumping on bloody stumps.
12 has more divisors than 10 does.
I measure my pace in gigaparsecs per picosecond and that's the way I like it.
Jumping in feet!
This is sickening. All of these years, I thought the mats were made of some type of synthetic foam and now I learn that they are filled with feet. Disgusting. This foot fetish must end!
Next thing you'll tell me that the long jump sand is actually ground unicorns.
Frankly, Mr. Shankly...
Minimalism rules!
Why jump add weight by jumping in shoes.
If you can shave off a view ounces (er uh I mean grams) by simply jumping in feet, then you can jump higher and farther!
They tried to teach us hillbillies metric back in the 70s but it soon became apparent we would never understand it.
(Unless we were bagging marijuana or cooking up some meth)
