I haven't run track in a few years. I have a new pair of spikes that I'd like to wear for my late season outdoor meets.
For those of you that have experience with such, how did you go about breaking in the spikes and how did you prepare your body for running in spikes (and the stress that it imposes on the body)?
I was thinking that I'd probably just run easy on the track (maybe some strides?) a few days a week for a week or two leading up to wearing them in a race? I've been doing eccentric heal raises to strengthen some of the muscles that I would expect to be sore.
