Just curious, how does he run unattached when the team is on their spring break trip to California? (Yes, I know it's legal to travel with the team while redshirting.)
Andy Bayer 13:32!!

He traveled separate from them. He has said in previous interviews that he planned to travel out on his own to run in Stanford at least once this outdoor season.
-
he's almost at GF's freshman time! Way to go!
-
Ahh, but what would German's junior time be?
Touche sir, touche. -

Crazy that he's redshirting:

Shows he is in 27.55 - 28.04 shape for 10,000 if he moves up distance.

Straight $$$$$

just as Derrick's 13:36 showed that he was in low 28 minute shape! Bayer won by ten seconds. He will be a force at 5 if he runs it at NCAA.
-
Coming off his NCAA DMR performance, he is not moving up to 10000 anytime soon.

Is that right? That is fast as all get out.
I respectfully withdraw my comment then, but insist that a 13:32 is no summer stroll in the park mind you.
And a good day to you sir.

James Cameron of Washington ran 13:51!
he is a sophomore, and I believe he ran something like 14:30 last year. very impressed. -

Yes actually. Are you really that big an F'tard? It's obvious this race was not used as a PR race for the stanford guys, but to just get a time in. -
not sure what mistake you're identifying here. I predicted Derrick to run 27:53 and he ran 28:54. Maybe that's just a tempo run, but you cannot just give someone that kind of translation to the 10k, because not everyone is trained optimally for both five and ten. I do think that Bayer is a tremendous talent and I'd like to see him running with some elite comp maybe at Payton Jordan.

Bayer is wise to redshirt. Even these breakthroughs don't guarantee a podium finish against the likes of Fernandez (if healthy), Leonard Korir, Diego Estrada, Sam Chelanga, and David McNeil (I think he has one more season, right?) at NCAA outdoors. I could see Miles Batty doing some damage if he decides to run the 5k as well. The NCAA is so steep right now.

Pixler's 5K was as good, beats some solid pros and comes off of nine months without competing- gets the nod from me.
