It's honestly not that good, promotes the nuetering of american distance running. For christsakes, the womens WR is a 2:15.

Go out, run 2:15 yourself, than come back and discuss..
When American high 2:13- athletes started getting $100,000/year contracts
When it became faster than anyone who posts on letrun could run including R Bobby..

That makes it something to brag about? Not really.
What's Christ got to do with it..... unless you're Ryan Hall.
I think Paula is probably okay to brag about her 2:15. You assume everyone on this site is male?
Depends on who you're talking to. If I was talking to a bunch of professional runners I wouldn't brag about a 2:15. But compared to anyone who isn't a pro, 2:15 is pretty damned respectable and I would be proud of it.
At the Boston Marathon last year, out of more than 20,000 finishers, only 15 runners ran 2:15 or faster. That's pretty baller if you ask me.

that day never has happened.
meb who won new york 18 months ago and ran 2:09.26 last year 2nd fastest time by an american last year apparently has been dropped by nike.
american malemarathoners who deserve 100k for doing a marathon.
in no order
meb- based on having won new york 18 months ago. at an age where he may only have 2-3 good efforts less if that.
ritz- based on potential with his 12:56 for 5k and 3rd in world half marathon championship. injured often has to produce soon.
hall- consistent between 2:08-2:10 and popped a huge 2:06 a few years ago, has to produce soon if not boston, then he must make the olympic team or his marketability goes way down.
lagat, because people will be intrigued to see how he will do moving up, i think people will be surprised how good his marathon will go.
solinsky, based on his superb 5 and 10k credentials, he should be marketable for 5-6 years.
rupp, young, fast at 5k, 10k and half marathon, coached by a legend, youngest of potential top USA marathoners.
they SHOULD get 100k plus, appearance fees, but dont expect the race directors to be happy if these guys run a 2:13.
