Hey I'd love to see some feedback on my friends running form. (He's 6'1" and about 155lbs if that helps.)
Where could he improve, what's good, what should he change?
thanks in advance

HERE'S THE VIDEO: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fRXjkjjXvso
i'm not too crazy about the foot strike or placement. get those feet under the center of gravity and try not to land so much on the heel. to me, it seems like he's overstriding. but what do i know? i'm just an education major who's supposed to be writing a paper
cool vid bro
That angle is not terribly useful and he is too far away. Also you need to slow it down more.
He doesn't strike that much on his heel. It looks like he does but if it were slower you'd see he is dorsiflexing right before contact making him strike more midfoot and supinated, which is good.
You need an angle from the rear and you, ideally, want reflectors on his posterior superior iliac spine. With the rear view you can see if he has hip drop in the stance phase (which he may have based in this video). You can also see "wobble" in joints and how quickly he drops into pronation if you film from the right angle.
It's hard to see in this video because of the angle and the film is too fast but he appears to have a rapid drop into pronation which also could be an issue. The shoe looks to be a bit of a fulcrum.
He looks relaxed and his upper body looks good. I think his foot strike is in a good place relative to his hips as well, but the quality of the film is poor so don't quote me on that.
There is nothing to critique, unless the critic is the typical biomechanics 'expert' of which there are many, almost all of them clueless about the subject.
Right leg extends forward more and straightens out more than the left leg. Don't know why or what that means. Just something I noticed.
He overstrides asymetrically...right leg is overstriding, he's actually "braking" his forward momementum.
Needs to concentrate on having his foot land under his knee, not out in front of it.
Thanks guys, great points!
His right foot lands closer to his heel than his left foot. He needs to correct his right foot. His land foot lands pretty much on his midfoot.
he should land on his foot not his heel and cross his arms less
I must say to be honest, he must no run. he no run well. I say he no walk also. he will snap leg bone with no honor.

His clothes are awful and he needs a better haircut. I do like the shoes.
