In the buildup to world xc, there was an interesting article in the Kenyan media by a sports editor:http://www.standardmedia.co.ke/sports/InsidePage.php?id=2000031542&cid=39&story=We%20are%20victims%20of%20our%20own%20successIn that article, the editor says what everyone really knows but won't admit - Isiah Koech isn't a junior. He doesn't mention Koech by name but everyone knows who he is talking about when he writes:
Kenyan sports editor wrote:
One of those runners in the junior category is obviously not a junior, no matter what his birth certificate states. I want to urge our officials to guard against such cases of embarrassment.
When Koech ran 12:53, LetsRun.com received a call from a current collegiate runner from Kenya who said he wanted to help blow the lid off of the age lying in Kenya as he thought it was unfair.
This article is a step in the right direction.
