Ok, I am completely serious in my post here. Heregoes: I want to dunk a basketball so bad. But I don't know if it is possible. So I figured the best place to get some information would be from the experts at LetsRun.com
I graduated college last year and upon entering the work force running was pushed to the bottom of my priority list. In college I ran everything from 1500 to 10k (3:58 and 31:10). I ran a lot (upwards of 120 mpw at times). Had so-so footspeed, but a decent kick. Right now I am finally finding a work-life balance and able to find some time to run. I am putting in probably 30-40 mpw. I do some push ups and pullups in a vain attempt to impress women when my shirt is off.
Now I've never really tried to dunk. I don't know what my vertical is (I guess I should have found that out for some help??). On fresh legs I can usually get my hand in the net. I'm 6' tall, 155 lbs. My hands are big enough to palm a basketball. But I've always heard that running a lot of miles kills your hops. (jumps = fast twitch)
So is it possible that I can train my self to be able to dunk and still run enough to be a sub 16 5k road warrior??
And if so... PLEASE give me some workouts to do.
Thank you.
