I know they stopped making the Asics Bandito a while ago but I was able to get some pairs of it for ~$40. It is by far been my favorite training shoe and I've gone through a LOT of pairs of it. It is getting harder and harder to find and when I tried looking I could only find stuff at $80+. Does anyone know of a good alternative to the Bandito, something very similar preferably (and just as light)? Thanks!

Adidas adizero mana (64$)
mizuno wave musha (72$ for new model but you could possibly look around to find the older ones for cheaper)
Asics gel ds racer (80$)
ds racer 8. Pretty much the same shoe.
Can you get the DS Racer 8 for a good price? I guess I was spoiled by getting the Bandito under $50 for a while...

I know that the DS Racer is supposed to be the same show, and the sole looks the same if you hold it up against the Bandito. That said, I find the fit to be very different. The Bandito was narrow and felt lighter, while the DS Racer is wide through the forefoot and feels roomier in general. This could be completely subjective, or it could be specific to my foot.
Bring back the Bandito!
Interesting... I have gone through tons of pairs of the Bandito and bought 3 pairs a few months ago which all have 800+ miles on them now. I got them for pretty cheap (see opening post) and I thought I could still find them but it looks like it is slowly starting to become obsolete... I thought they'd still be around longer! I guess I have no choice but to get the DS Racer 8, if that's the closest thing to the Bandito. I've found it for $65 which I guess isn't bad for running shoes.
If you are using these for training, why not try the Asics DS Trainer? Very similar to the Bandito, just a fraction of an ounce heavier and a bit more support, and fits the same (I have both shoes). Got mine for $60.

richie, you should look on runningwarehouse.com and consider nike zoom streak xcs. yes they are a lil lighter but still very similar to the banditos. try those u can get them for 50 bucks. keep doing dat bernie.
I'd rather use the streaks for road racing. I do a lot of running on trails, etc. so my shoes get beat up easily. I am considering getting a pair of the DS Racer 8 and the Saucony Fastwitch 5 (both ~$65) and alternating between the two (I run ~80 mpw). What do you all think? I figure the DS Racer 8 is similar to the Bandito, but I'm not so sure on the Fastwitch. How long do these shoes usually last, anyone know? I've been able to put 800+ miles on the Bandito.
I like you loved the Bandito. Bought out my size when Running Warehouse had a special on them not too long ago. Now runnning in my last pair. I also agree that the DS Racer 8, although suppose to be the replacement for the Bandito, is just not the same shoe and really prefer to run in something else. At this time, the something else is the Tarther although I am considering giving the Hyper Speed 4 a try. Any input on this? I do all my training in these shoes.
I too just got through my last pair of the Bandito (bought a few pairs in that Running Warehouse special). I just ordered a pair of the DS Racer 8 and a pair of the Adizero Mana and plan to alternate between them for my training. Let's see how it holds up... I didn't want to get something TOO light because like I said, my shoes get beaten up easily since I run a lot on trails. These both are around 7.5-8 ounces so not too bad.
