Is it because the women's field is weaker since sexism keeps many African women from entering the sport? Is it because the US women are more talented and/or work harder than the US men or because they are more patriotic and/or professional and took this race more seriously? Did they just get lucky?
Because of all the African nations (and African purchasers), only Kenya and Ethiopian put out good women's teams. Uganda, Eritrea, Tanzania, Qatar, Bahrain, etc, just don't have any depth in the womens races.

That was about as close to a women's A team as you could have fielded today, with maybe one or two exceptions. Not sure what was up with Koll, but I think most would still have put her on the roster, just an off day.
I dont think one guy on the men's side qualifies as the US A Team material. One or two are MAYBE B team, and the rest are C at best.
If a distance athlete gets funding out of USATF it should be a must that he/she runs the trials and attempt to make the team.
Our best women run and we get good results.
I think if our best men would have run we may have had similar results.
women can gain much more from steroid therapy than men.
