I couldn't believe it when I woke up, turned it on and he was in the lead... great job rupp!

Anyone who saw Mo Farah win the European indoor 3000 recently, knew there was only going to be one winner in a sprint finish.

gotta hand it to the guy. He may be the goof of the crew with his mask but he damn well made a fine debut. 60:30 is impressive.

Meb: 1:02.52 (not sure about his place)

Smyth: Dropped somewhere after 10k

Abdi: 1:03.12 (19th I think)

Let's not forget Rupp did fall and had to surge to catch back up. I suspect that might have been the cause of 3rd place finish. Otherwise he would have won.

nice racing by Mo Farah anyway. Impressive for Rupp to fall and still finish 3rd. Doubt that he would have won regardless, but how many guys could even hang close after a fall like that?

How many times has Rupp been dissed and written off by letsrunners? I bet some of those same guys are now going to be showing up at races with masks on.

You never know how much the fall cost him. It takes a lot out of you to fall. But he looked great. Sub 1:00 easy in the right conditions.

Even though NYC is a net downhill course.

Maybe it is a net downhill course but it is not an easy course. The net downhill is due to the last few miles. The 8 miles in the park are rolling hills. He ran a really great race today.

1st Half Marathon, not the easiest course, fell down, got up again, ran an actual RACE (hello Ryan!) and finished 3rd in 60min.

The allowable drop in a HM is 21m. The allowable difference between start/finish 10.54km. The drop at NYCHM is 29m, 8 meters too much drop. As the crow flies the start and finish is 9.65km apart, barely under the legal.

There's a reason why NYCHM is "aided".

Rupp fell? How many times has he fell in big races in the last two years? Most athletes run their entire careers and never fall.

It's net down hill (so what)- central park is hilly and it was cold you moron. He ran 60:30 or so in those conditions and they went out real slow- must be because it's straight down hill in central park.
