I'm running the NYC Half this weekend after a long haitus from racing (and never did anything >10K) and am wondering how much better the race environment should feel vs. tempos. It's just been so long and I don't have a baseline, particularly for longer road stuff vs. the track/XC.
I've been able to do fairly long tempos (5-7 miles) at 6:10 to 6:15 pace. These have been somewhat tough - smooth the first half and ending probably past what tempo effort should feel like. Daniels would say that I should be able to run 1:21 or so, but this seems aggressive. Thoughts? Strategy?
