two of the favorites in the 800m didn't even make the final?
i wasn't too big on greer, but loxsom seemed so strong at notre dame last weekend he seemed like the clear favorite.
after seeing him get silver at world juniors and destoying robbie andrews i thought he'd for sure dominate NCAA's. i guess thats why they run the races.
he'll prolly go ape shit on the 4x4.
He ran into a bad position on the end of the last turn and just gave up when he saw a solid 3 man wall in front of him.
The pressue of being Letrun's GWHs got to them. They should move up to the marathon before it's too late.
Oh crap they both need a REAl Coach one who isn't going to ruin them. They are so done now, now they know how real track fans are. They are now finished and will never amount to anything, same thing with Primm!!! Wow Chris derrick hasnt run anything near his beast marks of 2 years ago, so he is done now as well. Oh yea BTW I am not hating on these guys and G Fernandez but they are so done!
Fred Samoei looked really good - hugged the inside of lane 1 the whole time, probably ran a shorter race than everyone else, and a had a lot left at the end.
And Primm? He is a senior and got his butt kicked by nearly the entire field, finishing 12th.
Maybe the 45.9 400 realy split did Loxsom in!!

Complete BS. Watch the race next time. Loxsom was in perfect position on the final stretch with 50 to go and then decided to imitate Lionel Williams. Not a good strategy. Iowa guy blew outside him and Wisconsin guy blew inside him.
Primm tried to take just about everybody in the field down at some point and failed miserably at that, too.
Greer had to have been sick or hurt.

They got beat, that's what happened.
They beat themselves up too early in the season. By the time this meet rolled around, they really didn't have enough in the tank. Blame it on short sighted coaching. In fact all the Penn State 800m runners fit this profile. January and early Feb wunderkinds. These athletes run so many meets, when do they get the time to train properly
Yeah, Ryan Foster was running on empty in that mile final. Deepest field ever assembled and he only finishes 3rd in a non-preferred event. What a blowout.
The truth is that indoors is a bit of a lottery. You need to run a good time trial to make the meet, but then you have to be a racer to do well in it. Qualifying is tough and the indoor track is unforgiving. Outdoors you can afford mistakes but indoors it's a lot tougher to make up.
Armchair coaches who are quick to criticize and never to praise also rarely consider whether causation equals causality. Look at that Indiana team, they ran as many if not more meets. Is that the reason they did good or bad?
i agree. doesn't matter what happens in mid-january if you can't seal the deal in mid-march.
The 800 field was 14 guys who had times between 1:47.02 and 1:47.98. When everyone is on the same level, shit happens, especially indoors. Hell, Andrew MF Wheating never won an indoor 800 title.
