I'm amazed that Hammond (VA Tech) was not DQ'd in the first mile heat.

He tried to pass on the inside, and was forced off the track for several steps. Pretty clear, no?

He took a step out of the rail because Leslie tripped him up. No more than 2 steps.

Agreed, definitely looked like he stepped off, I guess we'll see. Is that legal if the runner is forced off the track?

hammond ran a good majority of the last turn inside the rail. i should try that sometime, seems to make you run faster.

aught to be DQed, he was inside the rail quite a while. if he was pushed down off the track, it was probably because he was trying to pass illegally on the inside.
