There used to be quite the debate on who was the better runner between these two...Now I believe it's obvious runner B wins that debate.

Runner A is a bit slower at the mile, but much quicker at 4k and 5k. Not so sure runner B is so much better.
It's German Fernandez and Ryan Gregson by the way.
Not only is it NOT obvious, but you are comparing apples to oranges. Gregson is a pro, whereas German Fernandez is a college athlete; I don't know what German's PRs will be as a pro, but I'm guessing he'll run faster than 3:39 - if he even decides to be a miler!
Also, I don't know what you have to gain by "showing" (I really don't think you have) that Gregson is superior. They are both extremely talented athletes that are competing on two different stages right now. Why not just appreciate their great performances and stop comparing?

Gregson is a better runner at the mile or less. Fernandez is a better runner at the 3k or more.
So, if you compare the two...
800m would go to Gregson by an unknown%
1,500m would go to Gregson by 3.7% (1.3% in the mile).
3,000m would go to Fernandez by 2.1%.
5,000m would go to Fernandez by 3.9%.
That's 2 vs. 2. I'd say they are quite equal as thier % over each others pr's are comparable.
However, Gregson's 1500 PR is internationally competitive. Not so much with German's 3k/5k. Edge goes to Gregson.
Gregson is already where Fernandez hopes to be at the most prominent distance track race. Fernandez, however, did not run at Monaco or Rieti or Rome or whatnot, so he did not have anyone to draft off in a superfast race when he was in his best 1500/mile shape. Is it unreasonable to think that GF could have run 3:51 or 3:52 outdoors on that day when he ran soloed 3:55? Or that he could have run sub 3:34, at least, when he dominated NCAA outdoors, leading from start to finish?
