I just received the news from a friend in Phoenix that Sally Meyerhoff has been killed in a bike accident today. She will be missed greatly by many people.

Hope this isn't true. If so, thoughts go out to her friends and family.
just confirmed through a mutual Facebook friend. Horrible news.
wow. I am in shock.
A coach, an athlete?
Athlete.

OMG, I'm so saddened to hear that. I had seen some articles about her recently. She was starting to run great. She will be missed by the running community.
this blows. damn shame, nice gal. RIP Sally, we'll certainly miss you around.
Wow, please tell me this isn't true. I remember seeing her run for Duke at indoor ECACs one year. She was out front all alone pushing the pace, trying to qualify for indoor nationals. I distinctly remember being very impressed with her performance and ability to push herself.
Biking accident?! Like she got hit while riding a bike or ?? What sad/shocking news!!
A damn shame. A time comes for us all, hers was probably a bit too soon. Best to her family and friends.
motorcycles are very dangerous, it is hard for drivers to see them coming sometimes, espescially the drivers that dont pay attention. rip.
Please can anyone confirm this?
Agreed, can it be confirmed? This is a huge loss to the running community.
Very sad, if true.
I have indeed confirmed this through a mutual Facebook friend who lives in Arizona and who was close to Sally. He was on his way to see her family.

since she raced xterra, i would guess it was a bicycle. this freaks out those of us who cycle daily. it's one of those things you always think about but try not to.
It has been confirmed...Sally Meyerhoff was killed in a bicycle collision today...she was training in Maricopa, AZ in the afternoon. She was riding down a hill at a good clip and possibly rolled a two way stop sigh with opposing traffic closing and died upon impact. Please keep her in your prayers...please post any comments and I will try to keep this thread updated. ** To the brojo's if you can put this on the front page it would be appreciated.**
The running community lost a great human today. Sally was kind, had a great laugh, and was always so thankful. As someone who works in the running industry, it was always a pleasure to work with Sally as she always had a smile on her face when we would meet. She was training for an Ironman. RIP Sally, you will be missed.
Have been praying that this was not true. Prayers to all her family and many friends. She was an inspiration to me and everyone around her. An amazing, talented, athlete and friend.
I will miss you Sal.
