I enjoyed listening to podcast linked on the homepage, but was curious what were everyone's thoughts on the interview.
I agree that with him that racing is important and obviously we see Salazar trying to employ that old school philosophy as well putting his runners in lots of races and of different distances. But on the flip side nobody in the world is thinking that if they run a 2:07:30 they are going to win a serious marathon so his thoughts on just aiming for time seemed off base to me. I think everyone is training to be competitive with type of races we see in marathons now which are not like what they were in the 80s - I mean nobody would be at 2:06-07 pace and then start dropping 4:30 miles to break people.
Also, even though I would love to see Schumacher athletes race more often, but it is hard to argue with their methods. Although perhaps some might argue against his marathon coaching.
