My teammate is on pace to complete the not unprecedented, but no less impressive "100and100" challenge. I only bring this to the attention of the LetsRun community because I remember how much interest the "100and100" challenge has generated in the past. For those of you that are unfamiliar: It's not hard. Over a seven day period, one runs 100 miles while, in the same week, consuming 100 beers (12oz constituting one beer). We are spring breaking in Panama City, Florida with a large portion of our team. We will be pounding runs every morning and drinking all day/night in a sick beach house and the MTV-famous clubs of Panama City Beach. This kid is one of our 10k runners and this will be his second 100 mile week of the season en route to a peak mileage of 110 mpw. He has a 10k PR of 30:16, but what really defines him as a member of our team is his (often outspoken) affinity for alcohol.
His talents in both disciplines of the "100and100" challenge leave no doubt in my mind or those of our teammates that he will accomplish this feat. He will compromise neither his training NOR his spring break.
He started on Saturday making Friday the 7th and final day of the challenge. Thus far he has completed 43 miles and 42 beers (including the long run of 18 miles), after Monday night.
Here's the breakdown to this point:
Saturday: 12 miles/10 beers
Sunday: 13 miles/18 beers
Monday: 18 miles/14 beers
I will continue to post updates of his progress when I get the chance.
