If the goal is a six pack (well, I already have a six pack, but looking for more definition), is it OK to work out core every day? Or, like other muscle groups, is it advised to allow abs to recover?

Every muscle you are breaking down with the intent of rebuilding with more strength or endurance must be rested at some point. However, there is more to a "cut" and powerful core than just abs. Do abdominals one day and lower back or obliques the next. You can do core work just about every day without doing "abs" all the time.

Disco is right on.
If your are doing crunches -- or if you on your back, your core routine is dated.
Core is plyo type movements: log jumps, explosive squats, planks, walking planks. Core is dynamic and never specific to a single muscle group.
Yes work core everyday. keep it intense and short <3 mins total. 3 x 1 min on 20 seconds off
