I found this article and thought it was interesting and ironic that both Padilla's national two mile and BYU mile record fell within hours on opposite sides of the country:

"It was a tough Saturday for Doug Padilla's records, with Bernard Lagat breaking his American indoor two-mile mark and junior Batty smashing his BYU indoor mile standard by a second with a 3:55.79, finishing second to Chris Solinsky in Seattle. "He ran one of the best races in BYU history," surmised coach Ed Eyestone. It was Batty's first time under 4:00 in the mile, and he's the fastest U.S. collegian of the indoor season."
