Will it? And I'm talking about the smallest dose, say 10 mg.

Supposedly it is an amphetamine so it lowers perceived effort. In that case, is it possible to push harder in a race? Obviously the side effect is your heart could explode, but if you take it in low doses..
i dont think it helps for running
may help you studying but not worth it
May help with racing. it's a stimulant.
but, given that it's an amphetamine, wouldn't it appear on the list of banned substances? I'm not sure, but it might be something to look into.
So would it help with racing then if you take it 1-2 hours before?
well it? wrote:

Race-yes, studying-yes, writing...probably; esp if the subject is uninteresting to you or you are tired.
Ok here's the deal. I used to abuse all kinds of drugs, and my running phase and my drug phase overlapped.
Seeing as amphetamine IS a stimulant, it will help. In studies i recall that it did not increase one rep maximum, but it did increase time to exhaustion on a treadmill test. Presumed because of the dopamine and ephedrine that the amphetamine releases. So, the increased ephedrine and subsequently adrenaline increases blood pressure which will give you a slight decrease in performance (if taken enough of), the dopamine that it gives will outweigh this far and above.
However its a double edged sword, too much amphetamine and you can make stupid racing mistakes: overconfidence, pushing too hard much too early, and some people get stomach aches or just dont like the general speediness. However, you have the right idea, 10mg to 15mg is an appropriate amount if you have no tolerance. However, for maximal effects i would suggest snorting it one hour-45 minutes before the race start for 10k and under because you want the peak of the drug to coincide with the race. For A half marathon and above(which i haven't raced) i would swallow it 15-25 minutes before the race so you can let the drug soak through the whole race without a giant peak.
Thats all i got for general overview. If you want to know personal experience, any more questions just post back. I got more

It's norepinephrine, not ephedrine.
There is no reason to snort (or shoot) it. Taking it orally 60 mins before a race is fine; oral absorption is excellent.
i knew i was misspelling (or getting the whole chemical wrong). However, i prefer snorting it, while taking it orally does yield a higher absorption, i prefer the rush and having a higher peak to coincide with my races. Personal preference i guess
Thanks for the informed reply. I've never taken it before, but I was just wondering if it had any effect on racing.
So for a 3k or 5k race, taking a 10-15 mg pill 45-60 minutes before would be a correct dosage? So that would coincide with right around when you start warming up correct?
Did you run faster when you took this?
Won't help and you will probably race like crap. Have taken it for years and never feel right on it, I have run like crap since day 1.
yes, 10-15mg depending on your preference is a good place to start. Coinciding with the warm up is recommended, you can make it part of your routine if you wish. Just makes it easier.
I don't want to get addicted, so trying it once in a while might work. How did it help you?
you realize this is doping? Adderall is banned for in-competition use.
It is an amphetamine so it is technically banned. It is used for ADD so it does help you "focus" and feel more alert. It may make you more nervous, increase anxiety, or cause a panic attack.
It is a stimulant, so it does jack up your resting heart rate and blood pressure. So you have to prepare to do a long cool down and don't freak out if your pulse is still racing a while after your race.
If you already like running and get psyched up for a race "naturally" it probably won't help you.
Basically it helps you focus on stuff you don't normally really like to do like studying or house chores (third lap of the mile?).
I've seen the bad side effects of adderall first hand (wife when she was in college): panic attacks, palpitations, withdrawal/crash, suicidal thoughts during withdrawal, dependence, anorexia, decreased sex drive. It did help with studying, but at a price.
I'm concerned we have a generation of adderall fueled "overachievers" being doctors, lawyers, engineers, CEO, etc. that may or may not be dependable.
I've run a couple races on adderall, if I had a prescription i'd race on it all the time.
I generally used about 10-15 mg and saw a definite improvement. both times I was able to focus much better on what I wanted to do in the race. I found that I simply wouldn't give up on my goal wether that was to win, or to stay in the money. A lot of times I'm not able to rally and pass people back when the race gets tough, but on adderall I simply would not give up my position.
read this, this is a wealth of knowledge. Yes you can get addicted. However i know quite a few people who use it for studying and theyre fine. I would try it in a few low pressure meets to get a feel for it. Or try it for studying so you can dip a toe in the water
Ya of course I wouldn't use it that much, just once in a while (maybe once or twice every 3 months) and in low dosages.
you're straight then. Dont worry, just be smart. Good luck!
adderall has an extended release component, I would think something containing ephedrine (like bronkaid) would be perferable for running.
I have used adderall for chess tournaments though, it works great for that.
