indoors doesn't have a weather factor determining qualifying times, so it is a level playing field.
Also, i could see where a lot of schools that have only outdoors due to budget/title IX crap don't have the budget to chase times all over the country in the spring
Head to head competition is fairer. Time trials in wildly different conditions inherently favor those whose enjoy the advantages of better weather.
What's wrong with athletes racing it out on the track?
What's wrong with an athlete having to prove that he's a competitor who can make it happen on the day? The essence of competition is head to head, not comparison of performance lists.
Cross country is determined by head to head competition. The super bowl is determined by head to head competition. The Olympic medals are determined similarly.
Postal competition isn't even like kissing your sister. It's like kissing the mailman.
like everything in life.....it is money.....
i would guess that it is because not everyone has the facilities. too far to travel for some schools?
