Ryan's career is in decline, so like the Gouchers she'll have to become the main breadwinner. Has she dabbled much with 5K and longer races?

Maybe she likes running.
she ran 9:11 whilst puking dude, get off her case. she's in great shape right now and i'm sure she's show it at usa indoors. good luck sara, this will def be your best year so far

So what's your point? I like playing basketball, but I game up my NBA dreams by the time I was 12 years old. Sometimes you just have to accept reality.

The difference, of course, is that you were never even remotely a threat to play in the NBA. However she's doing now, she is still a national class runner.
Why should she stop running except to satisfy your petty ego?
Do you get paid to play basketball? She just won at Millrose. I remember last year she fought to the line in one of the big indoor races and was nipped for first as she dove face first into the boards. She is tough.

So she had an excuse for Boston. Has she also been puking, dude, in every other race she's ran since wrapping up her time at Stanford?
Look, dude, I get it. She's an attractive woman, and you've been flogging yourself for years while imagining running beind her. But she is neither national nor world class material.
that's ridiculous. you don't just run to become famous. and you don't stop just because you have a few bad races. if she qualifies for big time meats fair and square - which she has - why shouldn't she run? you seem to think that any runner who isn't breaking american records should just give up the sport. please explain your logic.

Well, I can't dispute the pay aspect of it. And if the competition is weak, she may as well collect a paycheck. So I stand corrected.
But I would hardly call anyone "tough" for running a 4:15 1500.

It would appear that elite meet directors around the world disagree with you.
Now... Who's opinion to give more weight too. Hmmmmm. Tough call.
maybe it is fun for her, why do you have a problem with someone staying in shape doing an activity hey enjoy and making a little money on the side is just icing on the cake.
usually there is only a dozen or so runners (MAX) who make any real money, so should there only be a few dozen runners in the world?

For the record I know you're a troll, but my point was that if she likes it and she and Mr. Hall are supporting themselves, why not? You don't have to be the best at something to do it if you're having fun.

Sports event promoters liked Anna Kournakova and still like Danica Patrick, too. Are you making the connection?
You sycophants are starting to bore me, so I'll turn you loose to defend your track sweetheart. Just give me a list of her significant performances (by times, not place) and see how far you get.
Once you put it on paper, you might start getting a clue. Good luck.
Sara Hall doesn't run 5K.
Retire is just a troll whore guys... stop feeding it.
You could make the same comment - and with a lot more accuracy - about 90% of professional runners. If you really don't already understand why they want to run, I donlt know why you are on this website. Why don't you find a fishing website and complain about why people like to fish even when they aren't getting rich from it?

Does place not count anymore?
She'll be in the steeplechase soon
sara hall
1500-4:08.5
5k-15:20
steeple-10:00
you need runners like this to put in races with up and coming runners to progress without having to run against the absolute top when they are still developing.
she is a good 2nd tier national class runner, and she probably has goals example a sub 15 minutes for 5k and sub 4:05 for 1500, which would make her first tier national class runner.
The main difference between Sara and Mr NBA hopeful is that people are willing to pay her to run, even if she isn't the top runner in the world. Kind of a big difference here...

You're talking about the Africans that you love here aren't you?
God, you're irritating.
Sara Hall is doing fine. If companies want to pay her to run, that's great. I hope she earns a whole lot more.
